Lessons and Activities for 2/13-2/17

Mon 2/13 Students will explore IPADS to discover several Apps: frog disection, moon phase, astronomy, youtube, and IMovie.

Tues 2/14 HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!   Students will preform an experiment and record the event on IPAD. Then the students will post their movie to their blog.

Wed 2/15 Using the IPAD students will work on updating their blog to include several websites including moon phase and pbskids.org

Thurs 2/16 Computer Lab: Finish biomes and begin on astronomy activity.

Fri 2/17 TEK 8.7 B Moon Phases Notes, paper plate model, and oreo cookie activity

Lessons and Activities 2/6 – 2/10

Mon 2/6  Students will be introduced to TEK 8.7 Earth, Sun, and Moon. Activity: Students will use clay, to build a model of the three and place in order according to moon phases, eclipses, equinoxes, and solstices.  Sketch in composition book. HOMEWORK: WORK ON PROJECT!

Tues 2/7 Students will learn 8.7A How the tilted Earth rotates and revolves: Notes, videos, and visuals. Earth’s revolution 3D in composition book. HOMEWORK: WORK ON PROJECT!

Wed 2/8 Students will experience the Sun, Earth, and Moon using: A black tent, models, and create an Earth plate.

Thurs 2/9 Computer Lab: Students will explore 8.7

Fri 2/10 Projects are Due!! Students will share their projects with the class.

Activities and Lessons for 1/23 – 2/3

Mon 1/23 Students will watch several short videoes on food webs (Youtube).  Then students will break into several small groups and complete an activity that covers 11. A,B,C No homework

Tues 1/24 Students will review energy transformation and how it applies to the food web- NOTES. Activity: In groups, students will create a food web and briefly explain the food energy that occurs. Share with class. “PROJECT IDEAS and DUE DATES” handout issued today

Wed 1/25 8.11D How Human Activity Modify Ocean Sysytems. Students will watch 3 videoes, map the cod fishing journey, and take notes. Homework: Start on PROJECT!

Thurs 1/26 Computer Lab: Sea Otter

Fri 1/27 Students will create a sea otter and notes on its food web, impact on ecosystems, and adaptations

Mon 1/30 Review for test over 8.7 and 8.11

Tues 1/31 Test

Wed 2/1- Thurs 2/2 “Great Migrations” by National Geographic

News and updates!

Happy new year! My surgery went well and I am recovering with the help of many family members. My substitute will be Mrs. Brown for the next 2weeks. She is an awesome lady and educator, so I know my kids are in good hands.
A shout out: to all my students
I love you guys very much! Please be on your best behavior for Mrs. Brown. Have a wonderful few weeks and I will back on the 16th.

Thursday 12/8 Computer lab: weatherwizkid.com  students will use this website to discover about weather. This is a quiz grade. HOMEWORK: p.31-32 worksheet

Friday 12/9 Outside Lab: Convection currents using the weather solar balloon, use the anometer to find the wind speed, wind direction, and review conduction/radiation.

Monday 12/12 Begin reviewing all TEKS learned so far. Cycle lab stations: chemical/physical changes, energy transformation, atoms, periodic table

Tuesday 12/13 Cycle Labs: Review plate tectonics, Earth, and weather
